Eric’s family stole the show on this week’s episode of The Bachelorette. Eric’s hometown visit with Rachel was sweet as hell, and people on Twitter are loving how supportive his family is.
The entire family was beaming with positive energy the second Eric and Rachel walked in the door, as Rachel is the first woman he’s ever taken home to meet his family.
People especially loved how real Eric’s Aunt Verna got with when it was time to have a private chat with Rachel.
Eric’s aunt had the chance to talk to Rachel about her experience as the first black Bachelorette, and Twitter was here for it.
She said,
I love that he’s like so, like, into you. That’s, like, a really beautiful thing to see, that he’s so compelled by you that he doesn’t mind what people see. Now here’s a question for you: Let’s break up the R-A-C-E word! Race. First black Bachelorette. So, how are you dealing with that and were you, like, prepared for that?
Rachel responded with a quick and simple “no,” adding,
It’s a lot of pressure because you’re being judged by two different groups. I’m getting judged by black people, and I’m getting judged by everybody else.
Eric’s aunt responded,
I don’t think people realize that you’re having to worry about what an entire group of people think about your choices.
Which Rachel appreciated, adding,
Eric and I talked about. Like, we both struggle being selfish, but in this position, I have to if I want to get what I really want. I want love; love doesn’t have a color. So my journey for love shouldn’t be any different than the other 12 Bachelorettes that were in front of me. So, I’m going to make the best decision for me.
People were loving the exchange between the two women.
